Harry Potter, the braille edition
Jul. 13th, 2005 01:18 pmUsually braille novels are released 3-5 weeks behind there printed counterparts; however, demand for the new Harry Potter book is so great that a boston publishing house agreed to "blitz produce" an edition to be released only 3 days after the inital public offering. The braille version of the book comes in nine volumes, takes up 14 inches of shelf space and weighs about 11 pounds. Each Braille book costs $62 to produce but a donation from a local lumber company of $100,000 will allow this version to be made available for $17.99 the same price it is selling for on Amazon. Almost half of the production run are already reserved.
